SNOWMOBILING & SNOW MOBILES - Overview
SNOWMOBILING & SNOW MOBILES |
Snow Mobiles, are known to many as Ski Doos, Snow Bikes and Snow Scooters. They are land vehicles propelled by one or two rubber caterpillar tracks, with skis for steering. They are designed to be operated on snow and ice, and require no road or trail. Most snowmobiles are powered by two-stroke gasoline/petrol internal combustion engines.
It was only very recently that in 1959 what we know as the modern snowmobile in its open-cockpit one or two person form was invented which was sold under the name ‘ski doo’ hence people generalising all Snow Mobiles as Ski Doos. Modern snowmobiles can achieve speeds in excess of 120mph. Racing snowmobiles reach speeds in excess of 150mph.
Whether your a beginner or you've done it several times before after some expert instruction and tuition you will soon be out on an open country trail enjoying the buzz and adrenalin rush of being in control of a snow scooter through deep powder (when there is some!) and speeding up and down the ski runs in the quiet of a late moon lit evening whilst closely observed by the highly experienced instructors.
